Quote of the Day: You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page. Writing comes from reading, and reading is the finest teacher of how to write. Annie Proulx
It’s been a few months since I’ve contributed to the Insecure Writers Support Group.
Today is another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. You can also visit the founder Alex J. Cavanaugh for more info and links.
The June 3 question – Do most of your story ideas come from one place (the news, dreams, etc.) or do they hit from all over the place?
Music is a main source of inspiration for me. I also get inspiration from people I know, their stories, what’s happening in the world, and my own imagination. I’m currently working on a new play with music. My cousin Angie Anderson is a singer-songwriter, and we’re collaborating on a new work.
Another new venture for me is reading audiobooks. I’m the narrator for It’s Murder, Dontcha Know by Jeanne Cooney. It’s the same book that I adapted for the stage and had produced at Central Lakes College last year. It was fun revisiting that story as I recorded it, an ideal book for me for my first narration. It’s available through Amazon, Audible, and iTunes. I have a limited number of codes for a free download. Please, message me if you’d like one. Reviews are always welcome! I’m currently recording the second book in her series, It’s Murder, You Betcha. I’ve also been working with Terry Daniel, a voice over coach at UVT Coaching. He helped me record a couple voiceover demos for audiobooks and commercial work. I’m available for hire!

On the Fly Improv group in Brainerd, MN.
I’ve joined an improv group in my area. We’ve been practicing the improv games and styles and writing sketch comedy. I’ve been very involved in that and was looking forward to a performance scheduled for next week, but it got canceled. The timing wasn’t right, but it sure was fun working on a creative project with the other actors. We’ll keep working on it, and I hope share it someday.
