The Jalapeno is a medium sized chili pepper, comenly picked green, but if left to mature turns crimson red. Jalapenos are often used for seasonal allergies and cardiovascular problems. They have 2500-10,000 Scoville heat units, varies from mild to hot depending on cultivation and preparation, i.e. leaving the seeds in your dish will cause it to be hotter. They are commonly used in salsas, chilis, and stews, and are also served with Vietnamese pho soup.
Grilled Jalapenos: Cored, stuffed with cream cheese mixture, wrapped in bacon and grilled, a sure hit at your next barbecue.
Pepper Jelly: Can be made with jalapenos or any hot pepper, combined with a fruit, so you get the sweet and the hot. Spread cream cheese on your favorite cracker and top with the pepper jelly, and mm-mm you have a delicious snack or appetizer.
Home made jams and jellies are a real treat. Add jalapenos to give them a little kick.
A tasty snack.
I am definitely doing this. wrapped in bacon…oh yes the sons will be my slaves. 😉

Ha. Ha. Yes, they will!
Weird, had type a comment and then it vanished. Was asking why my facebook ID was listed on your blog, that’s quite uncomfortable. Didn’t know Jalapenos helped allergies, when I hear the word Jalapenos, I can only think of one word HOT, please pass the milk and or water. Here for A-Z
Jalapenos can be very hot or mild, depending on a few factors. When you add it to sweet jelly and serve it with cream cheese and crackers, it’s an scrumptuous blend. I think your facebook face shows up because you came over from facebook and because this blog is linked to facebook and people can comment that way, too.
Perrer Jelly — something new for me. Looks awesomely good. The Chef looks like he’s really enjoying himself. Thanks for this, Mary. Also, thanks for sharing the waitress story. I’ll let you know if she visits. Hey, good guess (how did you know? :))
Silvia, I guessed the waitresses heritage, partly from her clues, like her looks, accent, and she said, “Eastern Europe,” but I probably said it because of you and your blog and how much you’re writing about Romania this April. She was a great waitress and very friendly.
O those pictures are so tempting. Love the pepper jelly! I used to get that often when I lived in the US, will see if I can find it here in India (haven’t looked for it though). Now after seeing this post, am reminded of how much I used to enjoy it. Thank you 🙂

I was born in Hungary and we have there our own version of jalapenos, simply called “hot pepper” or “hot paprika”. My mum still swears by that a food is never too hot even if it makes her cry, god bless her cottons.
