Quote of the Day: from Albert Camus, winner of the 1957 Nobel Prize in Literature
My Dear,
In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love.
In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile.
In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm.
I realized, through it all, that…
In the midst of winter, there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.

Optional Question for November 2024: What creative activity do you engage in when you’re not writing?
Easy question for me: I’m a musician. I play the piano, teach piano, accompany singers on piano. No matter what my mood is, I can play the piano. It helps me process things in life, calms me, and also excites me. I have the opportunity to provide the music for a local production of A Christmas Carol this season. It will be a Brainerd Community Theater production at Central Lakes College Performing Arts. The script they’re using is by Patrick Barlow, a play with music. I’ll be providing the underscore/atmospheric music as well as accompanying the cast for a few songs. It’s a big project, and I’m excited for the new challenge. We have a talented group of actors and an excellent director, Amy Borash.
In my writing career, I continue to work on fine-tuning the script for It’s Murder, Dontcha Know. We’ve had several readings with the cast and director. They have offered excellent feedback and suggestions. We’ll have another reading at my house next Monday, where I will provide snacks, of course, that fit with the theme of the play! I am so grateful to everyone who is lending their time, talent, and support to this project. It is encouraging and gives me something exciting to look forward to.
I hope you are all doing okay on this post-election day. We live in an imperfect world, and it is difficult, at times, to understand our neighbor’s choices and actions. The Quote of the Day (above) gives me peace and a sense of self. I will always choose love and inclusion and help those in need to the best of my ability.
Go. Create. Inspire!
Journaling Prompt: What is the nicest thing someone has done for you lately?
Music is my other outlet.
Glad things are progressing with your play.
Music is a soothing balm.
Thanks for the quote. I needed it today. Glad your play is going well. Opening night is next Thursday night for out play.
Break a leg, Natalie!
Camus’ quote gives one strength. I love escaping for a while when playing the piano. Congratulations on taking on such a big project. I was in Community theater for a couple of plays and loved every minute of it…I should tell you I am no main character, but a chorus member and maid. They were just the right parts for me. Less stress! Enjoy your music. Your talent is a gift and I’m glad you are sharing it.
Thanks, JQ
Playing musical instruments is such a great way to find peace and and nurture your own soul. What a great gift you are able to bring to others by playing.
Must be so exciting to be working on your own play.
There is something about music that no other form of communication offers. I used to play violin, but it is an instrument you have to keep in shape (calluses on fingers and such. I can imagine how relaxing your piano is.
