Quote of the Day:
“But we have received a sign, Edith – a mysterious sign. A miracle has happened on this farm… in the middle of the web there were the words ‘Some Pig’… we have no ordinary pig.”
“Well”, said Mrs. Zuckerman, “it seems to me you’re a little off. It seems to me we have no ordinary spider.”
― E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web
“It is deeply satisfying to win a prize in front of a lot of people.”
― E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web

Journaling Prompt: Do you have a special memory of reading or watching “Charlotte’s Web,” a favorite character or scene? What would you write in your web about a friend?
I think I was in third- or fourth-grade when our teacher read “Charlotte’s Web” to the class over a period of about two weeks.
It was such a powerful yet simple story. It would be so disappointing when she would reach the end of the chapter because that meant we had to move on to math or science. The magic of the story was broken, at least until the next day.
E.B. White was truly a genius.
This was my neice’s favorite story as a youngster. I am going to send this link to her. Happy Wednesday Mary!
Thanks for sharing that great memory, Jodie. I’ll enter you in the drawing.
Thanks, OE. If your niece is in the Minneapolis area, tell her to throw her name in the hat, too.
Every time I think of Charlotte’s Web, I think of something read from Madeleine L’Engle. She said that her daughter was so taken by the story that she refused to eat pork as a child because of it!
Glad to be back and visiting! I was so very happy to “see” you in my comments 🙂
