Park Square Theatre in St. Paul, MN has risen the to challenge of Covid-19 quarantine and restrictions on meeting in person. Their video offerings are great. I’m planning on tuning into the following mysteries. I’m grateful to still get a chance to experience their shows. I miss the excitement and energy of seeing them live, but this is a good alternate and keeps us connected and seeing stories unfold.

Next Monday, the ceaselessly clever and entertaining MORLS brings you two regional mysteries; one set in San Francisco, the other in the Twin Cities. Each play is presented and performed in the style of a classic radio broadcast, including commercials, music and sound effects!
Monday, July 20, 7:30 pm
Your Home Theatre | $15
The first play is a lost episode of the west coast detective series Candy Matson Yukon 2-8209 entitled “The Mystery of the Black Cat”. Female detectives were a rarity in old-time radio and Candy Matson was one of the best! The series was known for its over-the-top characters, snappy dialogue, and rapid-fire San Francisco references. Although the original recording of “The Mystery of the Black Cat” is lost, the script survives, allowing us to recreate it for a new generation of old-time radio fans!
The night’s second play is an original creation from our own Midwestern detective series, The Minnesota Goodbye entitled “No One Wants to Take the Last Bullet.” Tim Uren’s hard-boiled detective Raymond Lake must once again face a land of passive aggressive niceties and ice-cold murder in a tale that will make you happy we still have two months of summer left!
