Quote of the Day: We need our arts to teach us how to breath. Ray Bradbury
The point is, art never stopped a war and never got anybody a job. That was never its function. Art cannot change events. But it can change people. It can affect people so that they are changed… because people are changed by art – enriched, ennobled, encouraged – then they act in a way that may affect the course of events… by the way they vote, they behave, the way they think. Leonard Bernstein
It’s so easy to lose faith and become lost in all of the politics of the world. That’s why we need the arts. To sublimate our frustration and anger into something beautiful. Freud called sublimation a virtuous defense mechanism because it is in the arts that we can find our humanity. Kamand Kojouri
The Twin Cities Theater Bloggers have been a united force for several years, now. This is the third season that I have been part of the nominations for awards for performances in the twin cities of Minneapolis, St. Paul and their vast and excellent theaters. I don’t live in the metro, but I gladly drive to the city whenever I can to support the theaters and artists. Thank you to all the PR people who have invited me to shows. I admire all of you for the work that you do. We could have lifted up many more performances and performers. Here are the nominations for 2017.
