Millie and Willie Cottonpoly, a sock puppet creation, are here to tell you their story during the April A to Z Blogging Challenge.
Mr. Happy guarding the freshly jarred Maple syrup.
Over the weekend, Millie and Willie Cottonpoly visited their bachelor friend Mr. Happy and friends at the Sugar Farm, where fresh Maple syrup was cooking.
Willie: Millie, bring your waders, we’re going to the Sugar farm to help with the Maple syruping.
Millie: Got’em. Are we on the bucket brigade today?
Willie: Yep, they need all the help they can get. The sap’s a-flowin’.
Millie and Willie help empty the sap from the Maple trees into the larger buckets, down by the Crow Wing River.
Resting under a tree that the beavers have been gnawing on.
This is where Millie fell in the mud, another reason for the bath after visiting the Sugar Farm and Mr. Happy. Millie had mud between her toes and sap on her back!
Mr. Happy sent home a jar of Maple syrup with Millie and Willie as a thank you for their help. Willie whipped up the best pancakes, fried some bacon, and they enjoyed the syrup, fresh from the trees and off the cooker. Yum.
Millie: A jar of that Maple syrup is like liquid gold.
Willie: I’d carry a hundred five gallon buckets for even one more small jar of that stuff.
Jars tipped upside down to seal.
Go. Create. Inspire!
Journaling Prompt: Have you ever helped with Maple syruping or done any other canning? Ever wandered around in the woods and fallen in the mud?
