Quote of the Day: I get by with a little help from my friends. – the Beetles
The Singer, The Painter, and The Writer
The painting above our heads is by JeMA. Read her blog post on our lovely lunch and our connection to each other. The Singer is my friend Heather who has found her voice through music. She writes her own songs and is singing around the region, sharing her gift and her message.
We had lunch at this restaurant, Prairie Bay, to celebrate each of us finding our own distinct voices in our art. JeMA hung her art there that morning.
Blessings to you as you journey on. May you find your voice in your art and in your life.
Journaling Prompt: In what area of your life do you come alive? What is your art, your “thing,” that which makes you whole?
PS: Before we took the pic, we checked each other’s teeth for food! That’s what friends are for.
That IS what friends are for! A true friend is someone who can tell you that you have broccoli (sp? WHY can’t I spell that word???) between your teeth!
It’s great that you have two wonderfully talented friends, and I love the sunflower!
What a lovely picture. You all look so happy. 🙂
Cynthia, Broc is a hard veggie to spell.
Sarahjayne, We ARE happy.
And, I know, her painting is gorgeous!!!
Raising my coffee cup in a toast to all of your unique and beautiful voices, and the artforms they shine a light on!
Great picture, Mary. There’s nothing better than good friends – especially ones who check our teeth!
I love the artwork! 🙂
I come alive when writing! I feel free and alive, oh also I love to be outdoors!!
Happy Easter Mary!
Joanne, Shannon, and Jen, thanks for shining your lights on my blog!
Lots of things bring me to life….but the number one is Jesus. Then family and writing, of course!
I like your Journaling prompts. 🙂
Thanks, Katie, that makes me think of “This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.” My theme song.
I have an award for you over at my blog!
You have a beautiful blog! I look forward to reading much more from you :))
Happy Easter!
Thanks, Nicole. Happy Easter and Happy Spring!!
What a beautiful painting! And your blog is so pretty. Thanks for visiting mine 🙂 The area of my life in which I come alive … WRITING. No contest there. It fulfills and completes me.
Yay, Julie! Write on!
Mary, HOW FUN! Praise God you have that creative gathering where juices can flow!!!
Hmmm. I LOVE all areas of the Humanities, but especially my writing. Just GOTTA DO IT!!!
Thank you for letting me smile at your pretty threesome.
Patti
Patti, Thanks for smiling right back!
Hey Mary! It’s nice to be “back.” You know me pretty well, so it won’t be a surprise for you to hear that writing is pretty high up there in terms of what makes me tick. But I think whenever I share something from my heart with others, whether it be writing, music or interviewing someone on the radio or for a magazine article — I feel myself coming alive. It’s when I am giving of myself in this way that I come alive. Having coffee or lunch with a friend in a favorite spot and sharing pieces of our lives with one another just seals the deal. 🙂 I will REALLY miss you in Sioux Falls.
Ah, yes, Roxane, you bring out the artist in me, too. I guess we have to have separate conference experiences this year. We’ll have to compare notes at our fav. coffee shop soon.
Hi Mary! I wanted to check out your blog today after reading your comment on Inkwell. Lovely blog!
Cute pic with your friends. What a blessing!
Hi, Susanne, thanks for the connection!
