Quote of the Day: If you move faster than the music, it will look strange; If you move slower than the music, it will look strange! Be like Autumn leaves which  follow exactly the rhythm of the wind! Mehmet Murat ildan, Turkish novelist and playwright.

I spent my afternoon visiting with people who live in a local Assisted Living Center for an activity I call “Excavating Stories.” We sit down with coffee, water, or other beverages and discuss the topic of the day. Today was “Fall Traditions.” It included everything from pumpkin carving to our favorite pie at Thanksgiving. It seems there were more tricks than treats “back in the day,” but as the resident pastor said, “We have evolved into a more civilized society.”

Our trees are nearly bare here in the North Country of Minnesota. Halloween has come and gone, random candy wrappers lie crumpled among the fallen leaves. I took my orange lights down, and people are raking, blowing, and hauling away fallen leaves. It is a time of putting things away, settling in for the long winter, a time to regroup. I feel like I’m in that season, too. The winds of change are blowing, but it’s quieter now. It gives me time to think and to follow my own passions. May they swirl and float like the leaves and seeds and grow into something even more beautiful.

Go. Create. Inspire!
