Whew! It’s been a long time since I posted anything new here. Naturally, I’ll blame it on the weather. Here in Minnesota, we’ve had a really long winter! Last year, the Chef had his Harley out on the road by mid-March. This year, I think it was the beginning of May, and even then, it was nasty cold the day he rode it out of the shop.
Finally, on Saturday night, May 18, 2013, he said, “So, what do you want to do tonight?”
“It looks like a good night for a ride.”
And, it was….so gorgeous, around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, calm, a scattering of clouds, just enough to make a beautiful sunset. The Chef drove us around Sylvan Lake, and Lake Placid (I didn’t know we had one here in MN), and the countryside. My senses came alive, smelling everything from the farms to the pine trees. Of course, the pollen eventually got to me, but that’s what happens in the spring.
We rode for about an hour, welcoming spring, dreaming of summer road trips, and admiring the country homes. I spent some of those daydreaming moments remembering our Yellowstone trip. Here’s one of my favorite pics from that ride. I wonder where the road will take us this year? The Chef turns 50 in June. It might be a year for a really memorable trip.
