Quote of the Day: The best thing about you is you kiss me at night. – from one of my son’s Mother Day gifts.
We went to see Iron Man 2. It was loud and full of car crashes, explosions, and metal on metal. The boys loved it. I like Pepper Potts. She’s both strong and beautiful.
Other things I’ve been up to…I cleaned out the garage and sent some things to the church’s garage sale, making room for boys to have some guy space and play cards.
I also cleaned my room, hadn’t dusted since Christmas, even organized this closet!
Purging, sorting, organizing, cooking, cleaning, lending my voice to a church service…what else…
Went to a terrific 6th grade band concert. I LOVE band concerts. That’s my boy and his trumpet.
My twin sons are in separate 4th grade classrooms, but they did the same projects for Mother’s Day. They made a cute clay wall hanging with a little space for a tiny flower and filled out this card (writing prompts in bold, their responses in italics):
Eric’s card:
You are special to me because you like to spend time with me.
I love the way you always love me.
I really like when we go to Mount Carmel (family camp).
Thank you for giving birth to me.
Charlie’s card:
You are special to me because your really nice.
I love the way you always cook food for me.
I really like it when we have turkey gravy day at school (I eat school lunch with them that day).
Thank you for giving birth to me.
They wrote out their cards independently. It was just one of those twin coincidences that they wrote the same response to the last prompt.
I feel loved, and I thank God for my four healthy, happy sons, and for each day they are in my life.
Journaling Prompt: What did you do on Mother’s Day? Write about your mom. Write about your kids, if you have kids, or write about mothering other people in your life.
(This is my one and only post this week. May is full! I’ll be reading your wonderful blogs when I can steal a bit of time. Write on! Thanks for visiting my little space in the world.)
Mary, wow, has Zach ever changed since I last saw him. What a handsome man! And I love how the twins had the same response. That is so sweet! Especially since you gave birth to them within minutes of one another. How appropriate is that? Sounds like your month is going to be as busy as mine. We’ll miss your voice out here in the blogosphere, but there are certain to be many fruits that come out of the quiet. Happy Mother’s Day to one of the loveliest moms I know.
Thanks! Yes, my middle son grew in so many ways this past year. And, that trumpet, mmm-hmm. So good. You have a great Mothering heart!
Oh what a wonderful Mother’s Day! So glad you had a nice day! My kids are still a little young to really get it, so I had to settle for celebrating my own mom this year! Have a great week!
I just keep smiling at you going to Ironman 2…
The best things about the day…the handmade cards, hugs throughout the day, AND there is a grasshead with a red bow in it sitting on my windowsill!
Sounds like you had a fun day for Mother’s Day. And got some sweet gifts 🙂
Those boys are so handsome!!! Happy Mother’s Day (even though a little late) Looks like you were quite productive this weekend!!!
I’ve heard so often how twins think alike, finish the other’s sentences, are on the same wavelength … As evidenced here in their same answer! Very sweet. Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, and enjoy your busy week!
I saw Ironman 2 this weekend too! Shockingly, I loved it!! I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the Transformers two flicks and Star Trek, and now this one. I guess an open mind can really do wonders! P.S. Your boys’ cards got me straight in the heart. So. CUTE.
I’m cleaning stuff out, too. There’s always that period where you’ve worked and worked and it looks WORSE, and then, suddenly, the tide turns and it’s all neat and lovely.
Happy belated mother’s day to you!
You have such handsome sons! What a fun day, just being together.
I LOVE those personal cards. Both hubby and my son took time to inscribe intensely personal comments. May hubby even found a card with a woman lolling in a bathtub, a book dangling from her hand. Happens to me all the time!!!
Aren’t boys the greatest things???
Awwww, your boys are so sweet! I love getting those cards from the kids each year. Yesterday during the children’s service at church, the minister asked a few of the kids to say something they like about their moms. One of the little ones (I don’t know who) said, “My mom likes to do, ummm, what she likes to do. And she’s not a chip girl.” Isn’t that hilarious?! 🙂
Check you out …. full of spring energy! I love when my kiddos play their instruments as well. It is a little gift that brings me such joy and I never expected that as a mom. I guess I never really thought about it.
Well first of all, I love your quote. A big Ahh came from my vocals.
I spent Saturday with my daughter, Sunday with the same daughter, my mom and dad and sister. We took mom out to lunch. Later my son made an appearance at my house with my precious pumpkins. It was a great weekend.
Thanks, everyone, for sharing your Mother’s Day love and stories. I’m feeling that oh-so-good feeling.
your boy’s are precious. precious.
here’s to good busy.
and to mothers and mothering.
Even when most of it is spent freezing at soccer games. I got some homemade cards. They know what really melts my heart.
Deb, that makes me think of the song: I got your love to keep me warm.
That is so sweet, Mary 🙂 You have some very lucky, loving sons. Glad you had a good Mother’s Day. My brothers and I spent time with my mom, which she always says she likes better than any presents!
Yes, Julie, Moms love it when we spend time with them.
Mary,
Can you come to my house and help organize, purge, etc?
Iron Man 2–you are a good mom!
Your boys are so blessed to have such a great mom in you!
Kim, Organizing does not come naturally to me. But, I would help you purge. That feels good. And, I’d be a great cheerleader as you worked on it…might even provide some piano music while you work.
LOVE, love this blog and will miss visiting while I’m gone.
But have a SURPRISE for you.

Yes, Jen. It will be good. Thanks!
What great pictures — and a good reminder about how important family is.
Hi, Mary. Thank you for your kind comment at my blog. It’s always a pleasure to meet new folks. Your blog is so beautiful! What your boys said on their cards to you is a treasure. I know you’ll keep those cards forever.
Your boys look so sweet. (Most moms laugh when I say their kids look sweet, but they really do look sweet to me). They also look like a lot of fun. Happy belated Mother’s Day! It’s very nice to meet you.
Julie, so glad we connected.
oh so sweet! thanks for sharing!
Mary,
I love the Mother’s Day notes that your twins gave you! What precious thoughts to cherish forever! It is really special how twins sometimes think and say the same things! Mine do that sometimes too!
Blessings to your week!
So so cute!!! Hey, Mary, I have a sixth grade boy too!!!
Hey, TX Chick, we do have much in common. Hope your latest script is going well.
